Lanyards

Lanyards, boondoggles, scoubidous… it doesn’t matter what you call them.  Learning to make them at camp is a fun tradition!

You’ll find the instructions for starting a lanyard and weaving them below.  You’ll need some plastic lanyard string – also called gimp string or rexlace – and a hook or keychain ring.

Display board showing different patterns of completed lanyards, including guides to help with placement of specific colors in your own patterns.

The board above, which was made for us by an amazing Girl Scout, can help you see how to arrange your strings when starting a new project so you get a particular pattern or to get a certain color in a certain location of the pattern.

The instructions sheets below, made for us by the same amazing Girl Scout, can help you learn to start, weave, and finish your own lanyard projects. Click on an image to see a larger version.
